Our Beliefs
What are our convictions?
Our unwavering conviction is that the Holy Spirit leads the Colorado Springs Christian Church (CSCC)(Zechariah 4:6; John 6:63). Because of that, we all must keep in step with Him (Romans 8; Galatians 5:16).
For us, the Word of God is the standard, not our emotions or opinions! We love God’s Word, we believe the Holy Spirit speaks directly to us through the Scriptures, and these are some of the things we believe God’s Word teaches us:
We must have a great commitment – inspired by the Holy Spirit – to the Great Commandment, the New Commandment, and both-sides of the Great Commission (Matthew 22:37-38; Luke 14:25-33; Mark 16:15).
There is One true God Who reveals Himself to the world as the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit, commonly referred to today as the doctrine of the Trinity (Matthew 28:19).
Jesus, the Son of God, is our One and only LORD and Savior, He was crucified as a sacrifice for our sins and rose from the dead on third day, according to the Scriptures (John 14:6; 1 Corinthians 15).
The Bible is the one written message of God and is inspired by the Holy Spirit (2 Timothy 3:16-17, 2 Peter 1:19-21).
Salvation is by God’s grace and power through our faith in the righteousness of Christ as we follow Him into His death, burial, and resurrection – baptism – by the power of the Holy Spirit (Romans 1:16-17; Ephesians 2:1-10; Colossians 2:11-13). Grace, faith, and baptism are one and cannot be separated.
We believe that our church family is made up of disciples who are filled with the Holy Spirit. We believe every disciple is a church builder, who builds up the church in love. Everyone is equally important and has a special ministry given to them by God and His grace (Ephesians 3:14-21; 4:16).
The Holy Spirit leads us
We believe the Holy Spirit leads (Zechariah 4:6; John 3:8; 6:63) the Colorado Springs Christian Church (Galatians 2:14-15, 20-21, 3:1-6), as we follow Him in faith expressed through love (Galatians 5:6b). In John chapter 14:15-31 Jesus tells His disciples that He will send the Holy Spirit to guide, teach, and disciple them and us. The truth is, we can do nothing without the Holy Spirit.
Therefore, we know that our best human efforts will fail if the Holy Spirit is not leading the CSCC where He wants us to go (Zechariah 4:6; John 6:63). The Holy Spirit – not our evangelist or staff – has an inspiring purpose, vision, and mission for the CSCC. In humility, we surrender our will and plans, believing that the Holy Spirit leads us as He desires and intends (John 3:8). That is why our faith and love are not self-centered or tied to any denomination!
